Jewett-Cameron, an Oregon-based manufacturer specializing in fencing, garden, and pet products, has disclosed a ransomware attack that disrupted business operations and led to the theft of corporate data on October 15, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The company stated that attackers gained unauthorized access to internal systems, deploying encryption and monitoring tools that temporarily restricted access to several corporate and operational applications. While there is currently no indication that customer, supplier, or employee personal data was exposed, the attackers are believed to have exfiltrated video meeting screenshots and images containing sensitive business information.
“The exfiltrated data primarily pertains to IT and financial materials prepared for the company’s upcoming Form 10-K filing for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2025,” Jewett-Cameron said.
The threat actors have reportedly demanded a ransom and threatened to publish the stolen data. As of now, no ransomware group has claimed responsibility for the intrusion. Jewett-Cameron noted that its cyber insurance coverage is expected to offset response and recovery expenses, though the incident may still have a material impact on its operations.
