Fort Smith Public Schools Hit by Cyberattack, Disrupting Districtwide Communications

KNWA/FOX24 reports that Fort Smith Public Schools in Arkansas have been impacted by a cybersecurity incident, according to an announcement made on the district’s official Facebook page. The attack has taken down both phone and internet services across all schools in the district.

The incident occurred on or before July 21, with the district confirming the disruption publicly on July 23. A district communications specialist stated that a third-party cybersecurity firm has been brought in to assist with recovery efforts, though there is currently no estimated timeline for full service restoration.

Fort Smith Public Schools encompass 28 schools, employ 3,000 staff members, including 84 National Board Certified Teachers and serve approximately 13,700 students.
