On Wednesday, in a federal court in Brooklyn, Ryan Scott Cochran, also known by his alias “namedeclined,” pleaded guilty to distributing fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine via the United States mail. The proceedings took place before United States District Judge Ramon E. Reyes, Jr. As part of his guilty plea, Cochran agreed to forfeit over $200,000 in cash, cryptocurrency, and bank account funds already seized by law enforcement. Additionally, he will forfeit another $900,000 at a later date. When sentenced, Cochran faces a maximum of twenty years in prison.

Breon Peace, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, announced the guilty plea.

Mr. Peace extended his gratitude to the United States Postal Inspection Service, New York and San Francisco Field Offices, the Internal Revenue Service’s Oakland Field Office, and the Drug Enforcement Administration’s San Francisco Field Office for their crucial assistance in the case.

Court documents and statements made during the guilty plea proceeding revealed that Cochran was a prominent vendor on various dark web marketplaces for over a decade. He advertised and sold fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, and other drugs, shipping them across the United States and internationally through the U.S. mail. Cochran also trafficked in fraudulent identification documents and other forged items, such as health insurance cards, which he sold on the dark web.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Philip Pilmar, with support from Paralegal Specialists Thomas Englert and Rachel Friedman.
