Cyberattack Forces Shutdown of Living Room Theaters in Portland and Indianapolis

A cyberattack forced Living Room Theaters to shut down its operations on Thursday night, affecting both its Portland location on Southwest 10th Avenue and its Indianapolis theater.

In an update shared Saturday, the company described the incident as a “cruel and random” attack that left most of its computers unusable. The disruption has halted all movie showings and has prevented staff from processing refunds for ticket holders.

“I am deeply sorry that we have been unable to show movies for our ticket holders. We will follow up to make sure refunds are issued for all tickets that cannot be honored,” the CEO said in a public statement.

Living Room Theaters confirmed that they are working with cybersecurity specialists to determine the extent of the damage and restore their systems. They have also contacted the FBI’s Portland field office as part of the response.

The company thanked customers for their patience and support as recovery efforts continue. An estimated reopening date has not yet been determined.
