Cyber Attack Disrupts Radio Arabella

Radio Arabella Munich and Radio Arabella Bayern successfully defended against a targeted cyber attack that attempted to breach their broadcasting systems. The incident began late Sunday night, November 9, 2025, when IT monitoring tools detected unauthorized activity aimed at taking control of core studio infrastructure.

When morning hosts Anja Mikolajczyk and Carsten Michl arrived at their studios, they found their workstations unusable with blank screens and corrupted displays. With support from external IT specialists, the station’s engineering team quickly improvised and shifted live programming to a cloud based training studio to keep broadcasts on air.

Technical teams spent the next three days restoring systems, rebooting hardware, and stabilizing transmission operations step by step. Throughout the disruption, presenters received strong messages of support from listeners.

Investigators from the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office, along with the station’s cyber insurance partners, were able to collect digital evidence related to the intrusion. Thanks to existing safeguards, most of the compromised systems were recovered in the days that followed. After roughly 72 hours, both stations were able to return to near normal broadcasting.
