A California man was sentenced to 24 years and four months in federal prison for operating multiple dark web platforms dedicated to child sexual abuse material.
According to court documents, Louis Donald Mendonsa, 62, of Sacramento, managed and moderated four websites on the dark web from at least December 2021 until his arrest in November 2022. These websites facilitated the advertisement, distribution, and exchange of illegal content, including material depicting the abuse of infants and toddlers. Mendonsa accessed the sites from a local coffee shop, where he also assisted others in running the platforms.
During his arrest, law enforcement recovered an external hard drive containing over 11,000 illegal images and videos, including 6,500 files depicting identified victims.
Mendonsa pleaded guilty in April 2024 to seven counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
