Conduent Services, a contractor that handles back-office work for Blue Cross Blue Shield, has alerted patients to a data breach that exposed personal details, including Social Security numbers.
The company said the issue stems from a security incident that was first spotted in January. A review later showed that an outside party had access to part of Conduent’s systems from October 21, 2024, through January 13, 2025, and copied files connected to Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Conduent began notifying affected individuals after completing its analysis of the compromised data. According to the notice, the files contained names, dates of birth, addresses, and Social Security numbers.
The company said it has not seen any signs that the information has been misused but urged patients to stay alert and offered two years of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services.
