Ryohin Keikaku has suspended operations of MUJI’s online store as of 21:00 on October 19 following a logistics system failure. The company has not yet announced when the e-commerce site will reopen.
The disruption stems from Askul’s “system failure caused by a ransomware infection.” Askul Logist, a subsidiary of Askul, handles MUJI’s online store deliveries. Ryohin Keikaku confirmed that there is no indication MUJI itself was affected by ransomware.
“We are working with Askul to restore system functionality, but the reopening date remains undecided,” the company said, adding that the full scope of the incident is still under investigation.
The outage has also affected some features of the official MUJI app, including online browsing and purchasing, access to My Page, applications for flat-rate monthly services, and viewing certain web content.
Physical store operations, logistics, and deliveries remain unaffected. However, the ongoing “MUJI Week” promotion (scheduled for October 24 through November 3) will be available only at physical stores, not online.
